The Second Phase of Judicial Informatization in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Parallel with the completion of the first phase of the judicial information system development, which achieved the planned level of functionality of the system, developed plans for the further development of the information system aimed at providing adequate support to strengthening the efficiency of judicial institutions operations.
After the most recent cycle of upgrades to the Case Management System in courts and prosecutor’s offices and the BiH Justice Portal, and the introduction of a distance-learning system implemented through EU support projects and , the development of the functionalities of the judicial information system had practically reached its technological, and in certain segments infrastructural, limits.
Through multiannual capital investment programs financed from the Bosnia and Herzegovina general budget and the European Union’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance, the HJPC BiH has secured the funds to renew outdated computers, purchase sufficient number of software licenses, and provide other system infrastructure.
In early 2014, through the project “C (IPA 2012), the HJPC BiH started working to develop a new version of the most important segment of the judicial information system – the Case Management System in courts and prosecutor’s offices. Upon its completion, the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina will have the technological and functional foundation for improving work processes, which will in turn contribute to increased efficiency in the day-to-day functioning of courts and prosecutor’s offices in a secure and satisfactory technological environment.
